How Snow Dog Booties Crochet Pattern Came To Be..
I’ve re-edited a new demonstration video for the Snow Dog Booties Crochet Pattern on YouTube. This includes the old video footage from when the booties were first introduced.
The original video posted dated 2012 or 2013. YouTube informed of security update earlier this year making it unavailable.
Since I’ve always documented my life, I documented this day. I needed something that would protect my dog from the icy cold elements, and the idea came to mind.
How about that?
I didn’t plan on creating Snow Dog Booties. They didn’t have ANYTHING available back then, in the stores or online to protect the dogs paws from icy cold snow.
The first ski trip to the snow, had nothing to protect my dog.
On this day, I crocheted up a bunch of neck warmers (as shown), and we made protection for her paws, by cutting off fingers from old ski gloves. I used my hair bands to keep them in place.
No. The paws wrapped in cut up ski gloves, (NOT my idea).. I do not take credit for ideas that weren’t mine, but it was a brilliant one and worked for a little while.
The bands hurt my puppy’s lil’ legs and cut off circulation. I could tell she was uncomfortable.
The past 6 years have been rough for me, and life has had a new set of challenges.
I’ve struggled a bit.
This last two years have been hog wild CRAZY with all that’s going on in the world.

I’m glad to have had to update my video, as it gave me a chance to tell my story. AND, not only that but my good gawd– it just so happens to be 10 years in December, since the creation of The Snow Dog Booties!! WOW!
This is a time to celebrate creativity! A moment in time I almost MISSED! A time when creativity served a purpose! AND, still does!
You know, as these times we’re living in, continue on in crazy, I’m realizing the crochet community might just be VERY happy to have their crochet skills, to fall back on.
